How to make a bootable USB drive in Windows 7

A bootable USB drive can help a computer to load and boot the operating system or any other utility program. It also acts as an alternative to a boot disk. To create a bootable USB Drive, you need a small application called ‘WinToFlash’. You can download this application by   clicking here


Once you have downloaded the application file, just follow the steps given below to install ‘WinToFlash’ application on your Windows 7 PC:
  1. Right click on the zip file, which you have downloaded and click on ‘Extract here’, or ‘Extract files’
  2. You will find a folder ‘Novicorp WinToFlas 0.7.0010 beta’. Double click on it
  3. The folder would open. Here, you will find an exe file ‘WinToFlash.exe’. Double click on it
Once the application is installed on your Windows 7 PC, you are ready to make a bootable USB drive.
Let’s start with the process of creating a bootable USB Drive:
  1. Click on ‘Windows Setup Transfer Wizard’
  2. Now click on ‘Next’
  3. Place the Windows 7 installation disk in the DVD drive and also place the USB drive in the USB port
  4. Now, in the ‘WinToFlash’ window, select the installation drive’s path in Windows files path section, and USB drive’s path in the USB drive section
  5. Click on ‘Next’
  6. Accept the terms of the license agreement and click on ‘Continue’
  7. It will ask you to format your USB drive now. Click ‘OK’ to continue
  8. After this, the windows installation files will get copied to your USB drive. Wait until the files get copied completely and click ‘Next’ once done
  9. Now click on ‘Exit’ and you are ready with your bootable USB drive
Creating a bootable USB Drive will not only protect your original install media from wear and tear, but is also handy to carry especially for netbook users.
